Well, actually I’m not, but my book is and it will be read by the amazing actress Suranne Jones (of Dr Foster fame) on Friday 15 December at 6.50 pm on CBeebies. That’s tomorrow! I’m so excited. I’ve had to keep this quiet for a long time as I found out by accident when the BBC Pronunciation Department (who knew?) emailed me to find out how to say my name. That was way back in April so I presume the reading was filmed then, though judging from the photo they have definitely got into the wintery mood with snowy clouds and even the Snow Queen’s ice palace in the background!
The illustrator, Maddie Frost, has done such a gorgeous job on the illustrations and I’m so happy for her that they get to be seen up close on screen. All her textures are scanned in from a variety of different materials and found objects which makes her work unique. I love it.
So I’m getting ready to put on my dressing gown and slippers, grab my hot cocoa and enjoy. But I won’t be going to sleep – oh no. I’ll be watching it another fifty million times first!
Congratulations!
So lovely to hear your news. Congratulations Lou will be so enjoyable to see your story read. Wishing you the best for today.
Exciting!
Many congratulations, I’m sure the children will love it!

Congratulations! That’s really good news!
Dear Lou
Just wanted to say on hearing you are on CBeebies Bedtime Story (I have 2 boys aged 5 and 7 so have spent many a happy 10 minutes winding down with them) that is so exciting for you and no doubt you are beside yourself seeing your work on screen! Amazing! I know how over the moon I would be too! Have followed your post from time to time (as time allows me!) and probably last contacted you when you had been signed up by Maverick books all those months ago – last year?! or before? i was asking for advice on submitting my rhyming picture book MS to agents/publishers and you were so helpful and constructive. It’s still here waiting for me to work some more magic on it…work in progress…as ever!
All that has taken a very back seat at the moment as the last 18 months has been spent planning and prepping for our emigration to Canada. BC to be exact and that’s where we are now! I still have the interest and desire to get to grips with organising what I have written and being able to spend serious time focusing on it but at the moment as we settle in, there is not the opportunity! Too much to do as you can imagine to begin our lives here. Maybe Christmas will allow me some time to investigate how best to submit my work here and I aim to get the equivalent of the CWIYB here…if you have any Canadian contacts in the book world do let me know?!!
Unfortunately we can’t get iplayer here – so I will be unable to watch the Snowflake Mistake but wish you all the best for lots of repeats on TV!
With best wishes for a Happy Christmas – and great how the snow arrived in time for the story!1
Hannah

So frustrating isn’t it? But keep going. It took me 15 years to get an acceptance!
Look forward to hearing the story!
Congratulations!
